Preventing and controlling healthcare-associated infections remains one of the foremost priorities in ensuring safe and high-quality healthcare delivery. At a time when scientific and technological advances are accelerating, antimicrobial resistance has become a major global public health challenge, emerging infectious threats continue to evolve, and climate change together with digital transformation is reshaping healthcare systems, it is essential that infection prevention and control practices are continuously strengthened through up-to-date, evidence-based approaches.
With this perspective, the Hospital Infections Congress (HIKON) 2027, organized under the theme "From Theory to Practice: Current Approaches and Applications," aims to address the current challenges, future perspectives, and practice-oriented innovations in infection prevention and control through a multidisciplinary approach.
Our scientific program will cover a broad range of contemporary and future-oriented topics, including the future vision of healthcare-associated infection prevention and control; innovations introduced by the new Infection Control Regulation; implementation experiences and expectations; the impact of healthcare quality standards on clinical practice; artificial intelligence-supported infection prevention and control applications; digital and automated electronic surveillance systems; rapid molecular diagnostic methods; next-generation molecular epidemiology; antimicrobial resistance and wastewater surveillance; newly developed antibiotics for the treatment of multidrug-resistant bacteria; antimicrobial stewardship practices; innovative technologies in environmental cleaning; the impact of climate change on healthcare-associated infections; preparedness of infection control committees for pandemics and disasters; and strategies for strengthening resilience while addressing burnout among infection prevention and control professionals. These topics will be comprehensively discussed by distinguished experts in their respective fields.
HIKON 2027 offers a comprehensive scientific program consisting of an opening lecture, scientific panels, interactive roundtable discussions, satellite symposia, educational courses, and hands-on interactive sessions designed to encourage the exchange of practical experience.
